About Our Initiative

In 2007, in response to persistent educational disparities between Napa’s White and Latino children and youth, On The Move launched the McPherson Neighborhood Initiative. The initiative was designed as a placed-based model for educational equity within a distinct Napa neighborhood. The McPherson Neighborhood is home to 2,000 children and their families, approximately 65% of whom are Latino and low-income. The Initiative’s programs and staff work collaboratively with residents and partner agencies to establish a place where every child claims a future in which all possibilities are real and attainable.
